A Day in the Life of an Orthodontist

Thank the Lord
Thank the Lord for giving me the opportunity to have rest and this wonderful career path. Until 6 in the evening, the staff helped me prepared treatment plans for the next day of work. As I walked out of the door, I always look at the sign "Dr. June Pham Orthodontics" and tell myself that I succeeded. 8 hours per day is very tiresome, but I am always proud of myself to be an orthodontist and help the people to have the most beautiful smiles. I will enjoy every single day being an orthodontist, because it was my dream to become one.
Busy Bee
After my lunch break, more patients started to come in. I adjusted existing patients' appliances (braces, retainers and other devices used in the correction of malocclusion). I only had two new patients today, which was really unexpected, then I had to examine the new patients' x-ray vision and have a shape of their mouth using mold. As more, and more patients came in, the more I got tired, and I got the staff to assist me a little bit more so that I have the energy to work on the next patient until 6. The afternoons and evenings are always the busiest of the whole day.
Recoveries
This is one of my orthodontist friend's patient named Emily. One of my patients has a similar case to this, and it is a difficult case to solve. This recovery for Emily is about 3-5 years and she had to go through an expander, headgear, braces, rubber bands elastics, retainers and others.
Now Emily has a beautiful, straight teeth, and my other former patients as well have beautiful, straight teeth too. I can make a difference, and make you smile with a glamorous, outstanding expression.

Dealing with Patients
Communication is one of my best skills of being an orthodontist in order to have the patients more comfortable and responsible. Having the patience is also one of my best skills to be successful at this job, especially while dealing with tough patients. This is why gentle and caring personality is also important. It is very frustrating working on a patient who won't let you do anything or touch his/her teeth. The way I have my patients with less discomfort was to turn on entertainment on television, and tell the patients "you're all better now." Delicate hands and a sharp eyesight is very important because no delicate hands would cause pain, and have the patients feel really sore. With a bad eyesight, the orthodontic materials would get damage and so would the teeth and nothing can be undone. I am a healthy professional orthodontist with a friendly heart, good eyesight, and delicate hands and love to see happy patients with beautiful smiles. I love to communicate with all of my patients, and I also gave every single patient a free access to play on Wii and free Wi-Fi.
Not-So-Busy Morning
After a quick call to the sales people, I prepared to start my day of working. I love to sit down and wait for the patients to come inside with their smiles. Barely anybody went inside my office and the operatory where all the patients were suppose to be to have their appointment. I always had to think why the patients have to go to work and school, and not here. While there were no patients, I wrote letters or emails to some of the patients' dentists to keep them abreast of patients' progress, and discussed payment options with patients and their families. Since it's almost 11, I'll think I will enjoy my healthy lunch break with the staff of this building while making phone calls to patients.
Calm Morning in the Office
A typical early morning at 5:45 in my office, I waited patiently for a morning meeting with the staff to review the day's schedule. The staff and I planned to have a meeting with sales people, selling orthodontic supplies and office supplies for the patients of many different ages. Since today is not going to a busy day with only 26 appointments, I will hopefully be able to have time to rest my eyes and hands after all the tiresome I would probably might have this morning. Right now, I am ordering more boxes of orthodontist uses for patients so that they may use them as a daily while they have braces.
